Cats are never sorry

I sometimes think cats are a bit like emotionally abusive partners, only furry and lovable.
Just brought a live mouse into the house and let it go? Not sorry.
Just swiped the third glass jar off the bench? Not sorry.
I’ve seen dogs be very contrite, but cats really don’t care if you’ve got a problem.
Here is Cat Two relaxing after not catching the mouse and wondering what my problem is. Wondering, but not caring.

My cat goads the puppy, then acts mad when the puppy takes the bait. I pick her up and put her out of the room because I get tired of their play fighting. She comes right back in again and it all starts up again. Puppy gets in trouble. Kitty is the absolute opposite of sorry. She’s triumphant.

The problem is, cats used to be seen as deities and were worshipped as such.

They've never forgotten this fact !

They have never forgotten and they make damn sure WE don't forget either .

Oh another thing ours do with No Shits Given:

Sit by the cat door with no plans to go out but keep activating the release with their micro-chips .
It "click click clicks" then the batteries give out so they whinge .
They do not compute the connection.

He whinged at me till I changed his bowl , the Whisker/Width Ratio was all to pot and he couldn't get his face comfortable .
He will often pick random bits with his paw , especially from his sisters bowl then he can pretend he isn't eating it , just playing with it .

When our dear departed Catboy was a teenager and just learning to hunt, my DH took a bird off him. (And DH was just learning about cats, so instead of coaxing and distracting gently, he took it off him as he would a dog, like 'I am Master, give that to me'). I know, rookie error... 🤦‍♀️

Twenty minutes later we were sitting in bed with our morning tea and Catboy marched into the room, advanced purposefully up the bed, squatted on my DH and revenge-peed in his lap. He was Not Sorry - in fact, he was vindicated and triumphant.

What impressed me is that he'd clearly been stewing about this and meditating his revenge... Don't worry, I gave DH a stern lesson in Cat Etiquette - though you could say he'd already had one.
