Peeing everywhere! How do I break this habit?

Hi, two cats, 7 months old, one male (spayed), one female (not yet had the op). Male cat pees all over the hard floor in the kitchen. We have two litter trays, which are V regularly emptied and cleaned, and he does use them, but also likes to go elsewhere. Not stressed, extremely affectionate, loves to be on me and purrs all the time. I've tried shop bought sprays and eucalyptus oil, which seems to work for a bit, but doesn't last long. There must be an ultimate deterrent - anyone found one? 🙏🏻

Have you tried different litter? Cats can be v fussy about how it feels.

Is he allowed outside? My indoor cat did this till I let him out. Now he's stopped completly.

They don't go outside - main road nearby and too many cat deaths round here 😔. I use a mixture of wood pellets and cheap clumping stuff - he does use it, but just uses elsewhere too! I was wondering if there was some magic fix I'd missed - like bleach or some household smell he might not like. He doesn't seem too fussy though! And his current spot is pretty close to his food as well 🫣

He's a cat. He wants to go outside sorry bit it's cruel keeping him in. You say he's not stressed, how would you feel after months of not leaving the house??

Try a specific enzyme cleaner to break the habit. Cat might be stressed - you can't tell by looking but you can by behaviour and urinating in inappropriate places is a very strong indicator.
Have you always had 2 cats? Or has one been introduced at a different time?
Vet check to rule out any infection too.
You might find it worth trying some food supplements for calmer cats.

Get them a leash, and walk him around the garden or a Catio.

That said if they can smell somewhere that's been sprayed before by them or another cat, they will keep coming back and it's incredibly hard to get the smell out. I imagine it'll have gotten to the floorboards.
If you put food where they like to wee it'll deter them from doing it in that spot though so try that.

Assuming he doesn't have a UTI then I'm afraid the most likely cause is stress.

If you don't want them roaming can you cat-proof your garden or build a catio?
