Is there much difference going from two to three?

It looks like Penelope's possible brother has, by a bizarre turn of fate turned up in another rescue. I never considered a third. Is there much difference?

For me it was, it was like I had two cats plus one, they didn’t form one group.

I have 3 they are mother and daughter and then a boy I had first.
They are all separate cats. The boy I barely see as he goes out. The girls are always local. Sometimes they swipe each other. But other than that it's no different. All have different spots they sleep in. They sleep close to each other but barely interact with each other. It's okay for us.

I had a bonded pair, and certainly noticed the difference when I added a third. The new one rubs along ok with the others, but they're not best friends. Still glad I did it though!

Would love to add another. Has it worked well with any particular mix of male/female and cat types?

Hi Toddler.
I've gone from 1 to 3, from 1 to 4 and from 2 to 4 (twice).
There isn't much difference between 2 and 3 cats in my experience. I don't believe your two are particularly bonded? so adding a third is unlikely to cause problems. Go for it 😸.

Toddlerteaplease · 18/02/2024 13:38

No, they aren't bonded.

Apparently the cat is already reserved. Which is a relief! I'll stick to two!

We have three boys and I actually think they're much happier as a trio.

The younger two play together and give the older boy some peace, but he still loves their company and will actively seek them out and choose to share his bed etc. with them too.
