Urinary diet - any recommendations?

Hello, my boy cat has had some urinary issues last few days and vet has recommended putting him on a urinary diet for a few weeks in the hope that helps.

Recommend brands are: Purina UR
Hills c/d
royal canin urinary

I assume all wet versions as she said to avoid dry food

Would anyone recommend one over the other of these based on experience? From what I can see they don't have great ingredients, wheat/fillers etc which is a bit disappointing al also loads of money! Typical as just did a big bulk order from Zooplus of usual wet food last week...

Our Dcat has hills urinary stress c/d wet and dry and it seems to do the job for keeping his Feline idiopathic cystitis at bay! I should add though that he does have gabapentin twice per day which he started at the same time so think it’s a combination of the two that helps. lol it’s not his favourite food and he’d much rather eat whiskas but it’s better than him having cystitis and urethra blockages 🥴

We feed Purina Urinary dry food. He won't touch the wet version 🙄

Thanks, I've bought the Purina one as it was the cheapest and I'm skint. Pretty crappy ingredients compared to what he normally has so I hope his stomach can cope. He usually eats anything so fingers crossed as I've just ordered 48 sachets.
Vet didn't mention any other medication for now but he will have another urine test in a few weeks and see what's happening then I guess ...

Mine normally eats anything too but he wouldn't touch the wet food - the vet said it's unfortunately quite common for them not to like it.

Mine was uber fussy but would eat Purina ProPlan Urinary tins and Kattovit urinary tins. But it had to be tins not pouches because they were like pate in texture. He won't eat lumps in gravy. And it's always right after you've bulk purchased!!!!! (You have no idea how many different tins of cat and dog food have been wasted because of having to change or just noses being turned up)

It's the same in our house, lol. They're currently on Sheba and will actually eat both the gravy and jelly versions which is nothing short of a miracle, but I'm still not buying more than a weeks' supply at a time as I know they'll inevitably go off it again soon Grin

I used to feed my unfussy cats with bladder issues on Purina dry and they were very happy.

Then I got fussier and with next cat decided it would be wet food only. Haven't bothered to buy urinary food but a 99% wet food diet has kept the issue under control most of the time.

Together with more litter bins, and use of Feliway and Metacam at the first hints of trouble.

My cat has purina urinary wet and dry food. I also give her a cystease capsule daily and so far, no symptoms of her idiopathic cystitis 🤞🏼

One of mine is on Royal Canin urinary since she was two years old and she's now 11, still on it and doing fine.

Mine had a cystease capsule for a few years too.
