14 week old kittens-teething? And petrified they'll get out.

Hello,
I've got 2 kittens 14 weeks old, we've had them for a few weeks because mum rejected them.
They've started going for our feet and biting a bit this week, and generally just crazy!
We use wands, I throw balls, card board boxes everywhere, even got Barbies dream house for them to jump in. We don't encourage play with hands or feet directly and when they have done something I've said no and moved and ignored.
I was just wondering if they could be teething?
Also I'm scared of them running out of open door ,I am vigilant about the door being locked. I had an older cat who died and was a stray before we rescued him so he did go outside, only in our garden. I know these aren't neutered yet so not able to go out but I'm unsure whether I want them too- how do you keep a cat indoor?
Thanks for reading.

They sound like totally normal kittens to me! They're absolutely bonkers in my experience - my youngest is 8 months and still hasn't calmed down, lol. 14 weeks is a bit young for teething, though.

As for doors, you just need to be really vigilant. Shut them away when you open doors or have a baby gate/double door system in place if you can.

Thank you for the reply. Its all new because my first cat was older.

Kittens are INSANE!!!

If you can, do let them be outdoor cats. I think they are so much happier. Unpopular opinion, I know.

But do get them neutered asap. Just in case. Particularly if they are boy and girl.

Thank you, I'm going to ring up tomorrow, there's a cats protection scheme near me.

Kittens are mad! And although you're supposed to have 2 together to play with each other, they often end up ganging up on you instead 😂 they might calm down a bit when neutered.

For keeping them in, do you have anywhere you could build a catio? Or cat proof part of your garden? Personally for indoor cats I prefer having an air lock of some sort (so porch at the front, catio or similar on the back door) so you don't run the risk of them getting out of an open door. Some cats are door dashers, others couldn't care less.

These would deffo be dashers 🙈🤣xx
I was looking into catio out the back and my friend mentioned locks.

My most recent floof i knew she was teething because she was crunching her mouth whilst she was sleeping. My others there was no clue

My younger cat is the first kitten I've owned, my other cats came to us already fully grown. I never realised kittens lose their milk teeth just like children until I started finding tiny cat teeth on the carpet. But yeah, foot attacking and general biting sounds about right for that age.
