Insurance claim

Dcat has been diagnosed with over active thyroid. We have Tesco pet insurance thankfully. The excess is £60 and so far we’ve spent nearly £70 on the initial blood test and first lot of medication for her. Obviously I’ll call the insurance people tomorrow and speak with them but wondered if anyone here could offer advice about how it works as I’ve never had to claim before. She will need another blood test in 3 wks time followed by another a month later then fairly regularly every few months from what I gather as well as the medication which on her current dose is £30 a month. Will I claim every time or do I have to ‘batch’ them up over time? Does the vet need to do anything and if so do they usually charge for this?

With any pet insurance I’ve used you tell the insurer it will be an ongoing claim , the excess gets taken off the first bill so if you submit £100 they will pay you £40 and then you just get paid the amount claimed on any subsequent bills for the 12 month period assuming you carry on with the insurance .

Most vets will charge an admin cost , we get that free with our vet health plan but that will differ from vet to vet . I’m with Direct line for the dog and Petplan for the cats and it’s all done on line , they send the vet a link .

My vet makes you pay them at the time, as my bills were huge, I claimed as I went. It's really easy to do. And you can bow submit an ongoing claim online.

With my vet I paid the excess myself on the first visit, then they charged everything else directly to the insurers and I just got copies of the statements. PetPlan, and the vets are a Medivet franchise.
