Elderly cat insurance

Hi

I'm thinking I might cancel my pets insurance and looking for everyone's thoughts/ experiences

My 17 year old boy has arthritis and thyroid issues and currently costing me a fortune. He has monthly solentia injections and tablets for water on the lungs as he can't tolerate any thyroid interventions. Regular blood tests and heart checks too.

I can really claim for anything as his excess is £150 plus 20% so not worth it, yet I'm paying out £150 a month on treatments along with his insurance premium of £80

I'm thinking what's the point insuring now. If he had either a terrible accident or something else go wrong, he wouldn't be given a GA or operated on as he's too fragile now anyway

So, should I look to cancel or keep it just incase something major happens? I'd hate any treatment to be decided on cost alone (even though he's super expensive already)

Thanks in advance

We don't insure our 10 year old cat. She's a lovely cat, but she's a cat and if we can't afford treatment, that'll be it.
