Why is she circling?

Every couple of weeks and for two or three evenings in a row, our 8 year old tuxie has started circling. Her tail is up but she seems to walk in a circle as if she is being followed. She's eating well, drinking well, playing well - a little slower now she's older. She's an indoor cat but we always ensure she has plenty of stimulation and places to hide or perch and observe etc.

It goes on for a couple of minutes. She walks slowly and carefully in a circle and then seems to snap out of it and go about her normalness.

Any ideas?

I have no idea but if she's slowing down a bit it may be worth considering arthritis. My 8yo was recently diagnosed and the vet told us that something like 80% of cats over her age of ten have arthritics changes in their joints.

Mine is now on regular painkillers and he's much happier.

Interesting point. Sometimes she doesn't jump up on stuff as well. Other times she's fine.
The thought of administering regular painkillers fills me with dread to be honest.

The painkillers are just liquid that you can squirt on their food. Mine actually takes his directly but that's because he's a big boy and I don't want our other cats accidentally overdosing themselves Grin

If she's not jumping as much please get her checked - it was one of the first symptoms with ours and we just put it down to laziness until one morning he seized up and needed an emergency vet trip 🙈

Yep get her to the vets sharpish. I can be a sign of neurological issues .Our girl did it and died of a massive seizure
