Rescue cat: suggestions on where to buy all the supplies I need to make her feel welcome?

I went to a local animal shelter today :) and reserved a lovely 2 year old tortoiseshell cat.

They have given me a list of things to buy (litter tray, cat tree, cat carrier, bowls and so on) and I wonder if anyone could suggest some of the best websites to order all my cat supplies?

It would be great to have a reliable supplier so I can get everything delivered fairly quickly and then pick her up.

You would be quicker going into a petshop - if in England ? Pets at Home is one of the biggest chains.

Get a trolly, stick to your list and pay, sorted.

You have to buy a cat tree ? gosh !

You don't actually have to buy bowls, I would think you have something suitable already ?

Is kitty on wet or dry food or both ?

What type of cat litter do you think you want to use ?
( I buy the cheapest as I go through so much of it having 3 cats, 2 of whom are house cats )

A secure carrier is important as you do not want her escaping.

Does she already have a name ?
she may have as she may have been given up by someone.

We use Zooplus. Delivery is always really quick.
Congratulations on your new family member!

Although there are tons of products on the market most of it is unnecessary
I agree a good carrier is essential, and find out what food the cat is eating at the moment. Same with litter if you use a litter tray.

Many cats love to sleep in a cardboard box, and an old clean blanket is perfect.
Simple toys can easily made- rolled up ball of foil, paper tied to a piece of string.

You can buy extra stuff once you find out what you/cat needs.

Agree with Zooplus.

Zooplus is great

You can buy fancy bowls and water fountains chances are they won't use them. My two prefer water and dry food in tupperware boxes and wet food on a plate. Water barely gets touched they'd much rather drink from the pond.

A selection of toys, although mine think hair bands and rolled up receipts are the best thing ever.

Congratulations on your new addition.

I also use Zoopus, but will buy from wherever has what I want. A lot of my stuff is from Ebay, food from Zooplus, they sell some really good food, high meat content, no sugar.

I have not had a cat so far that was interested in a cat tree, so maybe hold off with that until you know if you have a cat that prefers a chair or a higher place. Some prefer a cat bed, some use any cat bed. Mine always have liked the same chair, or my seat on the sofa. One liked a crate or a cardboard box, chair and sofa, never a bed, except mine.

Just get the basics and add to it as you go.
Carrier (a top and front loader is best)
Food and treats
Pet Remedy plug in
Cardboard scratcher or scratch bed (dual purpose)
Litter tray and litter - use the same litter as the rescue to start with.Don't bother with perfumed stuff, it can cause problems.
A bowl that leaves room for whiskers, and one for water. Later on a drinking fountain maybe.
A snuggly blanket and a soft toy, my current cat loves soft fleece fabric and will knead a fluffy toy/cushion.
Fishing rod type toy.
Zoom Groom.

Another vote for zooplus!

Thank you so much everyone!

I will hold on on the cat tree for now. She will have access to the garden but I was told she needs to be kept indoor for the first few weeks and maybe up to the Spring as she is rather shy.

I will use Zooplus. I have the details from the shelter of the type of litter and food that she has been using.

Any suggestion for the best type of scratching post to order from Zooplus?

She is a tiny/dainty cat :) but I still want to get something the correct size.

Congratulations!
I just bought most of the stuff for my new cat from Amazon. He loves his climbing tree platform thing and it’s his scratching post too so it was a top buy for me.
You don’t need to buy a fancy cat nest but make sure she has somewhere covered and secure to hide in when she’s initially nervous. Maybe a big deep box on its side with a blanket near her carrier when you first let her out.
Get a big enough covered or high sided litter tray to save mess.

My cat never gone on his bed.
Prefers a cardboard box!
Yes zooplus are good and delivery quick.

Pop to pets at home or similar so you can have a good look at some bits and get excited.

Again hairbands and rolled up tinfoil are fav toys here!

All the best.

Our cat has never used a cat bed. We were able to get a carrier from the cat charity they often have things donated that they sell for extra funds. We haven’t got a cat tree either
