Cat randomly being sick

Cat was randomly sick last night and has biscuits to help with fur balls as she gets those. She seems ok now, should I worry?

I wouldn't worry with just one episode of sickness unless there are other concerns. Cats are often sick. Furballs, they eat grass to make themselves sick, or sometimes they l just seem to sick up food for no reason.

My last cat wasn't sick very often but my current cat (and her brother when he was alive) had v sensitive stomachs and are sick all the time.

Mine was sick the other day too turns out when I don't give him a second supper he bolts his breakfast and pukes it all up he also pukes if I don't feed him enough my vet says he is a fat faker and needs to diet

One of my cats throws up very regularly. She's been checked out by our vet and he has concluded it's just what she does.

This last year our cat has started being a bit of a puker. She’s been to the vet twice and had a full checkup then an injection which acts as a diagnostic - if she was sick through it, then further investigation needed, but both times was fine. She’s nine so I do worry a little.

I would never worry about a one-off vomit unless it was accompanied by other worrying symptoms.

Was it on a new rug by any chance? Grin

As PP have said, I wouldn’t worry about a one off if DCat is eating fine and seems her usual self.

Mine borfs occasionally, usually when he's eaten his food too quickly or is very stressed. As others have said, keep an eye out for other bigger symptoms - if he's still eating, drinking water, and toileting ok, and if his behaviour is otherwise the same, he's probably fine.

Nope not a new rug!

She had dental work this spring which affected her eating and had 2 teeth out and is on hairball dry cat food as she gets hairballs. But no, she’s fine apart from that!

Mystery as she’s fine now.

A one off bout of sickness is probably nothing to worry about. My cats are sick if

  • They have bolted their food.
  • some food formulas or flavours (Felix double delicious chicken and beef is a danger)
  • They've eaten grass
  • They've eaten something they shouldn't (mmmm tasty dead crow)

I would only worry if they throw up a couple of times in quick succession, it looks a bit dodgy (if they've been sick because they've bolted their food it just looks like barely chewed cat food) or if they go off their food.

Mine throws up if she eats too quickly or too much.

I’ve noticed that if she throws up to get rid of a furball and doesn’t get it out she will be sick again until it’s up and out.

It seems to be furball related is all the food she ate earlier comes up. ie chicken or whatever that I know I fed her hours ago hasn’t been suggested as the furball is in the way and needs out. So I look for the furball now.

She also has a very sensitive tummy and I’ve had to take her off biscuits.
