Feeling guilty

Just returned from a 5 day break ( which I have done several times before )
Cat aged 7 did not enjoy cattery so has always had 3 daily visits from neighbour for feed , fuss , litter scooping
Maybe done this 6 times over last 5 years without any issues
This time I've got back to find she's eaten very little , pooed on the floor
Has wee'd outside litter tray day and night since my return and still eating bare minimum
Phoned vet Friday to ensure no physical concern , vet advised give it a few more days then bring her in for a check up but it's now day 7 and she's wee'd again today
Litter tray is clean
Floor has been cleaned thoroughly
Favourite food provided
House is warm and I've gone nowhere for 3 days to try and settle her
Feel so guilty that she's upset / distressed / anxious
I have to go back to work tomorrow and cannot bear the thought of urine soaked floor but more the thought of her being distressed
Any advice or suggestions ( apart from never go on holiday again 😩) ?

I wonder If she's also been frightened by fireworks as well. Try some Zyklene capsules or pet remedy to see if it calms her down.

Ah yes I forgot about the fireworks
They don't usually bother her but then I've always been here to give her a fuss and keep her in
Feel so awful still

It sounds like stress to me, bless her, it can cause cystitis and inappropriate urination very easily unfortunately.

You could try her on some Cystease tablets - they're good for urinary health and can help when cats are stressed. We use it for one of ours and it does work.

She's punishing you for going away and leaving her. I've just been on a 16 day holiday, the first in 3 years. My son who the cats adore kindly moved back home to look after them for me. When I got home my male cat Magic, came over glared at me and walked away. Later my female girl Maggie came for a little cuddle and Magic came over and hissed at her. He never normally does this. She jumped away. He glared at me again and walked away. I've been back 4 days and he's finally come for a cuddle. This is my Magic who usually spends 2 hours a day at least snuggled up to me. He was angry with me for leaving him. Your cat will forgive you in time.

It really isn't punishment. Cats have absolutely zero concept of that. It's stress and anxiety because their routine has changed and their humans are no longer around.

Sorry but this is one of my bugbears! Animals aren't that smart, honestly.
