Crystal prevention food.

Apparently the PH of Cheddars times very high. So the vet has recommended a crystal prevention diet. However she's got a very sensitive tummy and is a very sucky cat. She's doing much better on grain free food. So I'm reluctant to change it. I'm happy to carry onwith cystease capsules though. She's a good drinker. On these foods make much difference?

We feed our neutered cats (one boy and one girl) Royal Canin dry food - 'Sterilised'. This is because one of our previous (neutered) boy cats developed blood in his urine on other dry food. We do supplement with a tiny bit of 'wet' breakfast, and supper. I see Royal Canin do products (both wet and dry) specifically for urinary issues.

Hills do a range too:

I don't know if there are grain free versions, and they can be quite expensive.

Look out for cat UTI symptoms and discover the cat UTI treatment options. Use a diet from the urinary cat food range for specific needs such as lifestyle, age or weight if your vet recommends it.

She came to me on Royal cabin and doesn't tolerate it, so swapped to Iams, which was a slight improvement.

Is she having wet food?

My crystal prone cat manages with a 99% wet food diet and Vetpro Urinary.

Ah, hadn't realised.

As Anna says, would the wet food option be a solution? Our vet is a big promoter of real food for cats and dogs. Well, every time we go there, he goes on about a raw food diet being great. I wouldn't go the raw food route myself, but have thought about doing a batch cooking of meat for the cats every so often, and putting them in the freezer to be thawed as needed.

Just feed some wet food as well rather than dry only.
