Catproof Christmas lights

Not one of these insane people who put the tree up in November, but just wondering if it's possible to buy lights for a tree that a cat can't chew? The younger of my cats will bite through any thin cable, like headphones etc, he destroyed two sets of lights last year. I don't want him put in danger, but I would quite like a Christmas tree too.

A fibre optic Xmas tree is probably your best bet.

Just remember to cat-proof the mains cable too (if it's a thin cable).

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt - lost track of how many headphone / speaker / charging cables the cat has chomped, even slightly thicker braided usb cables have been chewed through!

I want to do that, but wonder if even the tape would be cat-proof? He just seems to have a compulsion, was hoping it was a kitten thing, he'd grow out of it, but it continues!

Our little cable chewer has been going 5.5 years off & on - in the end we just bought cable tidy sleeves for very important stuff - TV, console, desktop computer etc, and also used one for the Xmas tree mains lead,
at least until the cat realised it could stick her head in the "leaves" and chew through a cable there to shutdown the tree lights.
We just use an unlit tree now 😅

Oh dear!

I am thinking of getting a few strings of those battery operated lights from Poundland and using them instead, at least they're safer than mains powered and if he does his usual it only costs me a quid!
