Cuddlebug bonded pair - female suddenly rejecting male - help!

I have two adored cats - the male is 4 years old, female is two. They are both neutered. They are very bonded, cuddle up together. (F) has started rejecting (M) this has coincided with a workman in the house doing some work, which may have scared her (she is quite a timid cat) she hisses and swipes at him.
She is fine with me. No other notable changes. Any advice before I get a vet appointment?

Plug in Pet Remedy, lots of scent transference between them.

try the vets but sometimes this happens.

cats are territorial- it could be the workman is in her territory and she’s getting defensive. Could be another cat? Have you had to close off any areas while the workman is in?

I had to re home one of mine in the end. They still cuddled and appeared very bonded but they started spraying and scent marking. Tried everything with no joy.

once they were separated despite having slept together, groomed each other etc it was very clear that they were much happier apart.

hopefully for you once their routine settles back and they reestablish territory it will improve

Are they both neutered and otherwise healthy? If so, there's unlikely to be anything a vet can do to help you, unfortunately.

We have three cats and they do have the odd hiss/swipe/growl at each other when things change in the house. It never turns into anything more, and always fades away again once the disruption stops. Workmen is often the cause, but trips to the vet, sickness or even re-arranging furniture can do it too.

I suspect it will settle back down once the work finishes - if not, you could try Feliway and making sure they both have plenty of options for space away from the other.

Try Feliway 'Friends' plug in.

She's 2. Unfortunately this is the age that cats grow up and stop liking each other.

I had 2 siblings that used to sleep curled up together and suckle on each others fur, it was so lovely and cute. Then one day we realised we hadn't seen them do it for a while. And then we noticed they hated each other Sad

If it is linked to the workman then Feliway may fix it. But unfortunately it may just be that the 2 year old isn't a kitten any more.

Thank you for all the helpful suggestions! I'll try feliway first.

Of course, she's a teenager in human years and I well remember what that was like with human siblings who used to like each other!

I meant so say my girls have always hissed a lot at the boys whether in play or just warning them they don't to play. Just girls I think!!

Aw, they're gorgeous @Snapespeare 😻

Mine often squabble when their world changes a bit - I think it's fairly normal.
