If your cat had cancer, what happened?

My wonderful 14 year old cat has mammory cancer. She had a small lump and the vet said that as it was small then an operation was an option if that’s what I wanted. But…

I waited, trying to decide what to do (she has high blood pressure and kidney disease) and in that time it grew large very fast, it’s now probably 4cm+ So it’s not small anymore. 😣

I’ve booked an appointment but I don’t even know if an operation is still an option. Or still whether to put her through it.

If the answer is not to operate then what will happen? She’s not showing any signs of being ill. She eats and sunbathes and purrs on my lap the same as always. She’s my best friend. 😣 What will happen to her?

I'm so sorry op, it's difficult to know what to do for the best. Our dc had surgery to remove a tumour from her eye area and when they operated they found it was more widespread than first thought so was then terminal. We were told she had weeks left but ended up having 3.5 years with her and she had a great quality of life. She deteriorated very suddenly earlier this year and was pts as we didn't want to put her through any further surgery when we knew what the outcome would be. For what it's worth we are so glad we gave her the chance with the surgery and we cherished every day we had with her.

I've always thought that if one of mine got cancer. I would have no treatment and PTS when it was time.

Thank you. I feel like I’m watching her like a hawk every day to try to work out how she feels, I wish she could tell me.

She is vommiting about once a week/every other and also weed on my bedroom floor. But she’s eating as usual and I don’t think has lost any weight. She’s sat on my lap now purring her head off.

I have a cat with this too. I won't operate as I did with a dog years ago and a few months after the surgery it returned horrendously. I always regretted putting the dog through it.
I'm watching closely and as soon as quality of life is affected I'll pts, it's worth bearing in mind that cats are really good at hiding pain though.
