Does anyone have an automatic laser toy?

I don't mean something to shoot the poor cat, I mean one of those little robot type things that plays with the cat for 20 minutes and then turns off.

If so, would you recommend it and which one is it please?

I need to get fatty to move more but she waits for me to walk up and down the hall with the pointer before she will move. She wasn't used to playing and is learning how to cat, and she has every toy available to cat, except a little robot thing.

Poor little thing doesn't even head butt or climb my leg, just doesn't know how. Getting her to play is like pulling teeth. Never had a cat like it, have had attack cats, stealth cats, cats that fetch or play ping pong, but not one that doesn't cat.

I have no recommendations about toys, but if she's overweight (?) it may be painful for her to do much exercise. Has she been checked over at the vet?

Yes she has been to the vet, I have a goal to begin with. I know it takes time and to do it gradually.
She should be a lot lighter as she is tiny. Rescue had overfed her as she was skinny, whatever food they had obviously but free fed dry as well as several pouches per day. She was skinny in the photos I saw but when I got her she was porky.
She is lively, climbs up the door panels as if it's a ladder, jumps etc. and charges about happily. I just want to give her something different to chase so she moves more.

My two enjoy this robot toy thing. ^

Toad loves this toy. He goes nuts for lasers and doesn't get bored so I had to get an automatic one for him.

My son got our cat one last Xmas, and she completely ignored it lol

Please don’t use lasers.
Its strongly discouraged by animal behaviouralists and rescues.

Cats are programmed to chase but never being able to catch what they’re chasing causes frustration and encourages light chasing - cats that pounce on watches and light from phones.
Took us months to teach our rescue “healthy” play and steer him away from attacking lights and shadows.

Just leave her be and watch her diet. We had another rescue who didn’t play like a normal cat. She still grew into a happy little thing.

Getting a new kitten is a very exciting time so it’s very important to think about the impact your home and family can have on their development.

Thanks everyone.
@kistanbul I know about the problems that can arise with lasers, and I let her catch it and she gets a small treat. She also has a stack of other toys, including Da Bird which she loves. We have a system with the laser, she charges off down the hall after it, I return to the kitchen to prepare evening meal while she makes her way back to the kitchen and waits for the pointer again, back she goes to the end of the hall at top speed, or into 'her' room. And so it continues. She gets fed, has a rest, then Da Bird or mouse on a stick or something else before bed.

I just need something to keep her moving a bit more. She's not a kitten, she's a very smart little cat.

Da Bird has been the most popular toy with all of mine over the years, except one who loved those strong yellow tapes that used to be used to seal up boxes (from Zooplus I think), and a bit of string. Lasers were popular but not as much as Da Bird.

@Hermittrismegistus @RumNotRun Thank you, I have looked at them but not sure if they are any good, reviews vary.

I had no problems with the one I bought. My cat Toad loved it and it kept him entertained. I need to get some new batteries for it, but other than that it's lasted for a few years with no issues.
