Adopting a pair of brother kittens when we already have a cat

We are wanting to adopt a kitten as since our dog died our cat has been lonely 🙁 - the rescue centre will only rehome kittens in pairs - we are worried that the kittens will stick together and our cat still be alone? Would having just 1 mean its more likely the kitten and our cat would bond?

My friend had the same dilemma a while back. One cat died, leaving just the one girl at home. He spent forever trying to work out the best option, and ended up with a pair of kitten brothers.

One of the biggest factors in doing it that way, was that 2 kittens would play with each other whereas only one would pester the older cat constantly. Kittens are around 18 months old now, and it's worked out fine. They are both enormous, whereas the older girl is rather small, but she's still the boss - though the smarter of the kittens has started to try it on a bit.

I went a different route when my beloved Boycat had to be PTS, I brought home a young(ish) adult cat. 6 months down the line things are fine & happy in this house, maybe that could be an option for you?

I've introduced kittens (two once, and three once) to a single cat on two occasions.
Both times it was easy and the kittens clearly thought the big cat was their dad (actually the first time he might have been, but that's a different story 🙀). With my latest 'kittens' one of them bonded with one of my adult cats.
So I'd risk it.
