We have two cats, one from a tiny kitten and one recently adopted a few weeks ago (both around 6ish months). We have been doing very slow introductions as recommended and I'm just looking for anyones experiences of this - does it get better!! They can tolerate being next to each other if they're being given treats but as soon as the treats stop they fight. All other times they have their own rooms (they can see each other through a glass door) and own litter tray etc. I know it's early days, I'm just keen to hear others experiences

We had one adult dcat. Added 1 tiny tiny dkitten. Added 1 extra bowl and 1 extra tray and put them in dd's bedroom and left them to it. Watched from the doorway. A few hisses and lots of staring!

That’s the dream! They look lovely together, maybe I should have tried that with ours. At the moment whenever they’re together they fight, hiss, hit each other etc

Tbf he was lonely and depressed. His db had died... Only 8yo... Waited too long for the dkitten but we have ddogs and was worried about them with a small thing! Dcat was already here and ddogs knew to keep their distance! Dkitten wasn't even 1.5 kg!

We recently took back a litter mate after 2 years as DMIL had to go into a nursing home. We bought a large puppy cage (he's an enormous cat!) and gradually introduced him that way. A couple of months later they're all happy, pecking order established and no problems.
Persevere with individual treats and make sure you do lots of stroking one and then allowing the other to sniff you, stroking that one and then letting the other sniff you. They will settle, it's just allowing them to find their own place iyswim?

We put the kitten in with the adults (supervised) the day he came home.

That's two different black cats by the way 😂 the one sitting up is 8 and the one asleep is 3. There was a bit of hissing from the 8yo but nothing more than that. The 3yo was playing with him almost straight away.
