Raw feeding

Has anyone got useful information? I've looked at a delivery service where you get frozen portions. What do you do with them? I have no experience at all of cooking/defrosting meat so this is all strange to me. Mine are a complete pain with not liking any premade sachets or tins or trays. They only eat a mouthful or so and whinge for more. One in particular that is. No tooth problems, they've been checked. Thanks.

I understand a cat tax is due. Here's Little Missy who would like the family members with opposable thumbs to use them for her benefit all the time.

Aww, she’s a beautiful cat and quite rightly should be served all day long.

I haven’t raw fed but I have read about TB being linked to raw feeding so it’s something to bear in mind.

I raw feed my savannah cats. We tried Bella and Duke but they didn't like it so we've switched to nutriment which I can get locally. You just defrost and feed. Unless you make your own it's as easy as tins/pouches. They eat less because its pure protein and their poos are much less offensive! If you do make your own you have to careful to add vitamins and minerals as otherwise it is dangerous for your cat. Mine have been raw fed from weaning but I would imagine it will be a slow transition from commercial food.

Thanks for this. I had been looking at Bella and Duke. I'm now looking at Nutriment. The pack is 500g. How do you divide it up? Is it all one frozen lump?

Our vets issued a warning a whole back about raw feeding. I can't remember the details as we never have but some warning about illnesses.

Yes it's one block. It does 3 meals for my 2 but can be kept in the fridge for up to 3 days.

I wonder if that was for feeding with ready made meals, or for making up food from meat sold for humans?

Vets aren't experts on pet nutrition and aren't the people I would go to for any dietary advice.

It's true that raw food is a slight increased risk when it comes to disease because have dogs eating raw meat and then pooing it out, or licking you etc. but considering what my dog picks up on walks it's not really something that would worry me!
