Stressed cat - wwyd?

Dc2 has cystitis, probably caused by stress. She and dc1 took a few months to settle down with each other, and were rubbing along OK until we went away for a few days. When we returned, they were immediately arguing a lot.

I've got a plug in thingummy. They don't share a litter tray, they both go out as and when they choose.

Would you seoerate them (which would mean dc2 not being able to go out when I'm out, and being shut wither in large front roomor upstairs. Dc2 uses a tray. Dc1 does not so needs access to the flap.

Who said it was caused by stress? We had a boy with similar. It seemed to be a hard food issue.

The vet - apparently a common cause. And she has been stressed.

You could separate but ultimately not all cats can cope with a housemate so it may end up being best if one is re-homed.

In the meantime you could try Cystease or D-Mannose for good bladder health.

Thank you. She has some medication for cystitis, and has had an antibiotic injection. They were doing fine before we went away but it's been pretty bad since we got back ( 2 week ago) she was the aggressor initially but its been dc1 (the original cat!) Who is the one who's "starting"

When you say the other one is the aggressor, what do you mean? Is there anything particular that triggers the behaviour?

Hissing, for example, is generally not an aggressive behaviour - it's rooted in fear and insecurity rather than in a desire to fight.

@cinnamonfrenchtoast dc1 has been seeking her out and "having a go" for want of a better expression. But yes dc1 is normally a runner not a fighter things have settled a bit and dc2 is feeling MUCH better.

Agree with this. Also make sure the cats have lots of high up hiding places such as cardboard boxes up high on shelves etc. different choices of litter tray and substrate, plenty of play such as chasing toys etc. it just sometimes cats prefer to be the only one in the household.
