PDSA free pet care

Hi all! I unfortunately have to take my cat to the vets tomorrow for a severe UTI. I am registered for free care for one animal under them. They've requested I bring him in for 10:10AM tomorrow morning.
I know I am registered for the free care.. but I am panicking that once I am there they will demand something for him to be seen.
I am more than happy to make a donation to the pet hospital I am going to.. but it will have to be after I am paid at the end of the month.
I only have enough in the bank to cover the cost of the taxi there and back tomorrow.
Do they expect donations up front ?? Or will his treatment // medication actually be free ??
Thanks in advance.

Ring then and ask them?

loudbatperson · 17/07/2023 13:43

Ringing them and asking direct would be the most sensible option.

And coke payday make sure you get some insurance in place and start putting aside e towards the excess.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/07/2023 13:45

Yes definitely get some insurance. It doesn't have to cost much. Especially in a young cat. But if it's out of hours and you can't access the PDSA. You will be in big trouble if you have to use the emergency vet.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/07/2023 13:46

It's hideously expensive just to be seen.

By the out of hours vet.

With you. Yep, its usually £130 before the vet walks into the room.

I drove a friend to the PDSA some years ago now, she had to make a donation at the time.

Friendofdennis · 17/07/2023 14:03

Take evidence of any benefits you receive. We were on a low income at one time but not in receipt of housing benefit and so they wouldn’t register us. Best to ring them

AutumnalPumpkin · 18/07/2023 14:57

Thank you all for your replies. I took him and ended up only having to pay a donation of my choice. I covered most of the cost within my donation, as their costs are so low anyway. And I will be getting him insured at the end of the month, thank you again :) x
