Young cat pood on bed

I have a young kitten, about 18 weeks. Today she shat on my bed. Two days ago she shat over the side of her litter tray. We got her about 4 weeks ago. She is eating and drinking fine. She usually uses her litter tray well, no problems with using the litter. I always clean out her tray as soon as she shits, and completely replace all of the litter once a week. We have no cats or other pets in the house. What could be going on, and I'm assuming this isn't normal?

It is normal for some cats, put out two litter trays, change the litter more often. I had two young cats from the rescue and they took a couple of months to get “clean”

Also put the litter trays on mats or newspaper so that if she does “miss” then it’s easy to clean up, she’ll settle down soon enough

@GoodSister thank you, that's reassuring. My cat was from a breeder, not that that makes much difference I guess. I have bought an extra litter tray, and will try doing a full litter change on both trays every three days, and I hope that makes a difference. I have enzymed the areas she shat on so hopefully that will help too.

So this is normal for some cats? I hope that my cat learns some manners :(

The litter hadn't had a full change for five days, so I'm hoping that more frequent changes solve the issue.

I always use litter tray liners with a sheet of newspaper and half a scoop of litter.
As soon as he uses it the whole lot gets changed. It doesn't use much litter, the tray is always spotless, and no smell either.
That works for me anyway.

I used to volunteer in a cat shelter, this is how we did it there. It does work. Cats are very clean creatures so maybe it needs changing more often.
