Watery eye

We rescued Dcat from abusive owners 6 years ago and while she's come on leaps and bounds from when she arrived she's still extremely nervous around strangers so trips to the vet are kept to a minimum. She's had a watery eye for two days now, no yellow/green discharge, no redness in the white of her eye, no squinting or pawing at the eye, no sneezing, just excess clear liquid.

I could bathe it with cool boiled water although it will freak her out but not sure what else to do and I'm not sure it's serious enough to put her through the trauma of a vet visit at this stage. Just wondered if anyone has had similar with their cat and any advice on anything else I can do? Obviously if it gets worse or isn't improving she'll have to go to the vets whether she likes it or not but she gets in such a state I don't want to take her unnecessarily.

We need a photo before we can advise.

Dcat has a watery eye, and has done ever since I've known her. Previous owner asked the vet about it, but told her it was nothing to worry about if it's not bothering her. Explained that she could get it drained under general anaesthetic, but owner declined.

Sometimes I just wipe it with some dry cotton wool. Other times, it dries up and falls off on its own.

One of ours has a watery eye after a previous injury. I just wipe it with special cotton pads for pets.

I have Persians prone to gunky eyes. Cotton wool pads and cooled boiled water are what I use. She also has OTC drops for tired of dry eye drops if they are getting gunky.

Very embarrassed I forgot the obligatory pic, sincere apologies. That's reassuring thanks, doesn't seem to be bothering her at all which is why I'm loathe to put her through the drama of the cat carrier/car/vets if I don't have to. Do you mean OTC drops for humans Toddlerteaplease?

My former cat had a watery eye. The vet said that it was nothing to worry about. Sounds like you are doing the right thing by keeping it clean and not stressing your cat with a trip to the vet.

Our vet advised this.

My cat has a watery eye every few months. It waters for about 3 days or so then clears up by itself. It worried me the first couple of times, now I just check to see it's not changing to green / yellow and leave it to clear up by itself. She won't let me wipe it.

Aw, what a beautiful cat op.
