Litter brands / training 11w

Any recommendations for kitten litter brands? We bought home a little boy yesterday. He's beyond gorgeous & fairly bold. Nothing in the litter tray yesterday which worried me a bit but we waited til this morning.

He is confined in our downstairs bedroom / dressing room / bathroom with the tray in the bathroom. He needs to be away from the kids and DCat1 until he's bigger and more confident. Felight non clumping. He has now peed (in the shower tray next to the litter) which I wiped a tissue in and put in the tray, and then pooed in a gap behind the dresser which I did throw out. I've been putting him in the tray whenever he feeds, wakes or just when I'm in there but he leaps straight back out and doesn't seem keen on the sound. I'll leave the next solid in the tray for a while, any other tips?

Our 8 week old kitten is using Greenwoods, the same as our big boys. He came to us trained on clay litter but is managing fine on it and hasn't had any accidents. It's quite fine so gentle on kitten paws. We get it from ZooPlus :)

Thank you! His mum apparently trained him on silica litter so I've switched but he's still not interested. The shower is miles better than the carpet but I hope he picks it up soon.

Was he 100% litter trained when you collected him do you know? Ours was still in with mum and siblings and we saw them using their tray which was reassuring!

Does he only have one litter tray? Ideally they need to have two.

Apparently he was. Owner is lovely and I've communicated, but I didn't see him use it. He's confined to a fairly small space until existing DCat accepts him but I could add another. I might put the tray in the shower too.

Ours is restricted to one room when we're not around to play with him - he has his food, water, litter tray and some toys, plus his bed and blanket in there.

If there's too much space for him to explore he may get distracted and just go when he's desperate? I have no idea if that's a thing with kittens but it definitely is with puppies, lol.

We have a downstairs bedroom, small dressing area and shower which is where he is living at present. We are in and out playing all day, and someone in there all evening. It's a small space and the shower has become preferred so I don't think it's just letting go. Will just keep trying!
