Cat destroying house

Hi all.

I've had my rescue cat for just over 2 months. It's pretty clear she has seperation anxiety. If I go out, she has to be in because she will follow me. She's followed me a half hour walk before and waited for me then walked back, the issue is that whether I'm out or just in bed, she will destroy the flooring. She's ripped carpets and now she's ripping the tiles in kitchen. The upstairs is a no go area for the cat so no suggestions of allowing her in my room. It's non negotiable but what can I do? I've tried deterrent sprays etc but nothing works. I don't want to lock her out at night as I think that would be cruel, plus she's black.
Thanks

What does she have to do overnight instead?

Climbing tree? Wall shelves? Interactive toys?

If the answer is nothing then no wonder she’s destructive.

Have you protected the surfaces she’s scratching? Floor sisal mats etc? If not you need to do the behaviour doesn’t become a habit.

Do you tire her out before you leave her alone? Play an active game and feed her so she’s more likely to sleep for this period?

Have you tried calming herbs such as catnip and valerian?

It’s hard to advise without knowing what you’ve already tried.

She has a cat tree with toys and other toys left out, she has scratch posts, a seperate bed and access to food and water overnight. Will look into floor mats thanks

Maybe she needs a cat companion? Smile The problem is you won't know how she'd get along with another cat until you get one.
