Getting a new kitten??

Hello all! I've got a lovely 2.5 year old boy, I adopted him when he was 1 year old. He's the best, clean, patient, perfect! I was looking at the rescue centre website and they have the most beautiful 8 month old kitten, they even look the same, like brothers!! They confirmed I can have him but I'm anxious regarding:
Introductions-- would it be a super horrible and long process??
Disturbing my current cat: he's used to living with other cats when he was with his foster mum but what about if I stress him and he starts peeing etc??
Space: they'll be indoors, is also a condition from the rescue. I live in a large ish two bedroom flat, and have already lots of shelves and a couple of cat trees, would it be too cramped for two cats??
I'm sorry for so many questions, I guess im looking for reassurance that is possible to have them both with a bit of work at the beginning or am deleted and maybe should not get the kitten? Help!

I would look at the Jackson Galaxy website. But only you know your cat. He’s young so might take well to a companion but they would need to be properly introduced.

I forgot about Jackson Galaxy! I'll have a look at his website. My cat is very easy going and very playful still so maybe he'll enjoy having a play mate!

Cats protection league has a good website on introductions. Key seems to be taking it slow and keeping them separate initially, swapping scents with blankets etc. Then let them see each other but not be able to touch, eg. through glass, then through a mesh/net so they can smell but not have access to.

I'm currently going through the process now and have done a week of scent swapping. I'm really hoping they all get on!

My first thought would be get a scratch post or three and encourage the cat to use it by giving treat's when you see it using the post. Also I kept my litter tray in the bathroom get use to not closing doors. A pooper scooper so when it does do the toilet you pick up and flush so it's not smelling out the house. And they love to sit up high when eating so maybe make a small space for it to eat at. Remember they don't like to be touched while eating. Keep the petting for after it's finished. If you are dry meal give a sachet of wet a day because the dry food all the time can make them get wee stones in there bladder. It's just like a baby to start with gets into everything. If you catch it scratching any thing tell it off and put it on one of the scratch post's. This should deter it from your carpet's and soft furnishings. Good luck with your new friend.
