My cat has a gunky eye and she is terrified of the vet.

have anyone treated an infected eye without going to the vet? I will of course take her if necessary but she has to be sedated she gets so upset.

With out a vet you won't know if it's conjunctivitis, an ulcer glaucoma or uveitis.

Thanks - I will ring the vet in the morning! Was just hoping we could avoid the distress😢

My Persian is prone to this. I use OTC chloramphenicol drops when it's bad. And it clears up in a few days. But I only do that, as that is what the vet has previously prescribed her. And I realised the drips they prescribed were actually the human ones we use at work. In between I clean with leucillin or moisturising eye drops. If it's not normal for your cat, get her seen. Mine had an ulcer and I didn't realise till it was too late.

Mine is prone to a gunky eye after a bad scratch a few years ago - but anything new and eye related needs to be checked out as eyes can go very wrong, very quickly!

We are going tonight! If I can get her into her carrier😫

Agreed. Hence why my cat now identifies as a pirate. I was shocked how quickly her ulcer developed.

Ours had an ulcer too @Toddlerteaplease - he was very close to losing an eye but luckily the medication kicked in! We think he's lost some/all of his sight in that eye though.

I didn't even try and save my girls. The chances of success were very small. And she was in pain. I suspect her sight had already gone and I just wanted her out pain ASAP. Also due to my job doing 4 x or more eyedrops just wasn't doable. When the daft thing injured the other eye she had to stay at the vet. As I work 12 hour shifts so couldn't do them. And they were essential.

How’s your cat going OP, did you go to the vet?

Our cat had an ulcer. We did the multiple times a day eye drops and saved her eye, thankfully.

Stripedbag101 · 15/06/2023 19:48

Typical - wrestled her to the vet. Eye had cleared up, vet thinks she just had something in her eye😂😂😂😂

I may have been over cautious but better safe than sorry
