We’re getting two new kittens soon, hopefully in a couple of weeks. Can I have your must haves for bringing them home, please?

I’ve got myself lost in the world of cat carriers - I’m thinking either a wire basket type or wicker?

recommendations for carriers, litter trays, cat trees etc would be great.

I’ll keep them on their food and litter to start but could I also ask your favourite cat food with high meat content and your preferred litter?

Thank you for any help!

Completely agree about top entry litter trays. I had one and it was brilliant. Unfortunately Cheddar didn't get it at all!

The tallest cat tree you can afford/house, catnip toys, a cat flap that reads their microchips (excludes outsiders and many can be programmed to lock when you want), Feliway everywhere. I’d start with one carrier for both if they’re coming together.

@C1N1C and @Toddlerteaplease I have an automatic cat litter tray. I was sceptical but it's bloody brilliant!!!

I mentioned this on another thread, but I have a pile of cardboard boxes that I rearrange every so often & while the cat’s watching, I drop treats in all over it - preferably reasonably smelly ones. They have a whale of a time diving in and rooting them out.

One really good tip from another MNer was to have a box / bag of catnip and one of silver vine & to leave toys in them to recharge their smells.

Yes to tall cat trees but make sure to brace them somehow so they don’t wobble when your cat’s flying up them.

scratching posts. scratching posts. scratching posts. put them next to where/what the cats will claw (eg. a sofa) to make sure they scratch what they should, rather than what they shouldn't.

also some empty cardboard boxes for them to sit in / chew.
