Anyone used a cat behavourist?

My 8yr old female cat has become aggressive and territorial with her litter mate, she has started peeing on the bed and spraying in various places.

I had her checked over at the vet and he said she is stressed, I have implemented al, strategies suggested on Google, numerous litter trays spread around the house (generally ignored and we also have a cat flap to the garden), feeding them separately, extra strokes and reassurance, extra play time (not really interested), Feliway diffusers, and different sleeping areas.

Our other cat is now scared of her and runs away whenever they encounter each other, I am constantly on edge wondering if she is peeing somewhere she shouldn’t, she is still really affectionate with me and can be quite needy, wanting lots of strokes and attention.

Vet recommended we consult a cat behaviourist, has anyone used one and was it effective?

I had a similar situation and used a cat behaviourist but I am sad to say the problem did not resolve. I would still recommend it, especially if you’re insured, as mine paid for it so no harm done really

Thanks @CarpeDiemCarpeDontem, I really don’t want to re home her but she is obviously not happy and if we can’t resolve it I think that might be our only option sadly.

I used a cat behaviourist for 'inter-cat aggression' - but there was no inappropriate weeing involved. She was very helpful.

I think once the weeing behaviour takes hold it is incredibly hard to resolve. You are already doing all the right things by the sound of it so I am not sure a behaviourist will be able to add much. But it is certainly worth trying, a behaviourist may be able to spot things which an owner can't. I wish you the best of luck.

We did years ago and they prescribed some sort of tranquilizer called Clomicalm for about a month. It worked. No more spraying. Even after we stopped the meds. Getting the tablets into his mouth wasn't fun though!
