I've just seen a similar thread so appears ChampagneCat is not entirely fickle as others seem to agree with her.

She was on Country Hunter until that was discontinued, the. We moved to Katkin. She was fine with this and we bore the cost as she looked so well and the litter tray was the most fragrant a litter tray can possibly be.

Predictably now though she's gone off of it, a tray (handily labelled morning and evening) lasts 3 meals (a day and a half) and she's snarfing down biscuits while there's a bowl of the wretched slop in front of her 🙄 I also end up throwing some of it away on most occasions so we're on the search for a new food.

Cost is not much of an issue as we're currently paying for Katkin. She does need some biscuits as she has very bad teeth and we've been advised that this will help, she's currently happily eating Meowing Heads.

I tried to do a comparison but the array on offer is mind-boggling. I'm imagining something like Lily's Kitchen will be the way to go? We have a local Pets at Home and a large feed merchants. I'm also happy to order online and have freezer space one the bastarding Katkin has gone somewhere if needed.

Feringa from zooplus, the pouches went down well with mine. Hopefully the new cat likes them!
Biscuits I was looking at purr and miaow

Felix AGAIL. They thrive on it and don't seem to get bored of it.
It's what TC lives on too.

coffeecupsandwaxmelts · 23/05/2023 09:24

Felix AGAIL, plus Purina dry food for struvite crystals as out youngest was diagnosed with them last year.

He won't eat the urinary wet food so our vet said to just feed him whatever eat food he'll eat - which happens to be Felix and luckily our other boy loves it too.

The 8yo also gets dreamies for his treats and the 3yo has the Felix naturals ones as dreamies give him the shits 😂 the 8yo won't touch the Felix ones though 🙄

I'm so pleased someone else on here feeds Felix Grin

Everyone else seems to feed all the really expensive stuff but my two won't touch them!

AnnaMagnani · 23/05/2023 11:46

Canagan. They don't like every flavour but Herring is a constant favourite, possibly because I think it is the smelliest cat food ever produced.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 23/05/2023 11:52

Harry was on Canagan, all the tuna flavours. He also ate Country Hunter, Hi Life and at one point Meowing Heads. I wasn't sorry when he went of the Meowing Heads as it smelt vile!

We're collecting our new cat on Tuesday and apparently he's on Sheba or Purina One so I think my bank balance will notice a difference! He's also on Whiskas biscuits but I want to change those when he's settled in, probably to James Wellbeloved, which was Harry's favourite food in all the world!

Yarnysaura · 23/05/2023 12:01

Mine came to me from rescue on Purina One and, despite trying higher quality, it remains the only one she will reliably eat. She expects a pouch a day but only really licks it a bit so just has those tiny Gourmet pouches, again, had tried better quality but nope, she wants cheap gravy. She's bloody picky for a former semi-feral stray. She is in great condition though, good weight and non-smelly poo, so can't really grumble.

Complete opposite to my last cat who was a feline dustbin Six Dinner Sid.

RagingWoke · 23/05/2023 12:08

Mine is a fickle beast. She demands variety so we keep a good mix of various brands/types because she will love one kind today and next week won't entertain it. We had a real issue with weight loss from an illness so gave different foods to encourage eating and here we are with 6-8 different types of cat food at all times.

Purina, felix, Sheba, IAMS, katkin... in all varieties, I just pick up as I see them. Luckily she appears to have an iron gut and change doesn't bother her. The occasional feast of scrambled eggs and/or chicken goes down well too.

Gettingbysomehow · 23/05/2023 12:15

Not whiskas thats for sure as they have changed their recipe, the cats HATE it and it gave both of then awful diarrhoea.
I spent £50 on a selection of very expensive cat food and so far they don't like any of it and will only eat bisuits.

afaloren · 23/05/2023 12:36

One of mine will only eat Whiskas fish pouches (we got him from a rescue and that’s all he would eat there either) so the other one has to have one too. They also munch Wainwrights biscuits. They like Dreamies for treats.

Happierwithouthim · 23/05/2023 12:37

I cook up beef mince with mixed frozen veg and some gravy & keep in fridge. Feed it to my dog and cats, started a few months ago, their coats have improved & there's no foil packets or cans to dispose of

Northernlurker · 23/05/2023 12:42

@Happierwithouthim is the gravy not very salty?

Ours has Felix tasty shreds or deliciously sliced.

Macaronnotmacaroon · 23/05/2023 12:46

My 12 year old cat was on Felix AGAIL for ages but she started vomiting almost every day or was leaving most of the meat and was losing weight. We changed her to Untamed and she is consistently eating more and is hardly ever sick. She only likes the meat varieties but my two kittens (almost a year old) scoff down the meat and fish flavours. It is expensive but bowls are licked clean every meal time and all 3 are full of energy and healthy looking so I don't grudge the expense.

Macaronnotmacaroon · 23/05/2023 12:48

Oh and we also add some Scrumbles biscuits to their diet too that they all love. I buy the big bags from Amazon. I tried their wet food but I didn't like the plastic packaging and my female cat wasn't fussed on it anyway.

Happierwithouthim · 23/05/2023 12:51

I noticed that ddog was drinking more water as a result so I've cut back on the quantity of gravy and I sometimes add cooked rice also

That might be ok for dogs but I doubt it meets the nutritional needs of cats. Do your cats hunt?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 23/05/2023 13:27

Gourmet Perl Pouches. Came to me on FAGAIL, didn’t eat it. So tried Sheba and Gourmet.

I also give Purina One which he was on when he arrived and he’s happy with it.

Not sure what he eats at the various other houses he goes begging at. Skinny little thing, people feel sorry for him. Do not be fooled.

mondaytosunday · 23/05/2023 13:49

Mine hit bored of Katkin too. So it's Whiskas and kibble. They seem fine - I alternate from fish to meaty.

Toddlerteaplease · 23/05/2023 14:12

Mine are in Iams. But cheddar is very sucky at the minute so might have a rethink. She's been bet checked and it's all dietary. Given the size of my insurance premiums for them. Posh food is out of budget. And when I've tried the more expensive ones. The kibbles are too small and they cat eat them with their flat faces.

Happierwithouthim · 23/05/2023 14:21

Yarnysaura I can't say, have mother cat since Jan 22, she has never brought presents to the door but she's roaming all day long.

LeatherSkirt82 · 23/05/2023 14:24

Ours will only accept Applaws tins and N&D Farmina dry food. We tried others (both cheaper and more expensive) and it was a hunger strike until we brought out their usual stuff.

I often think this too 🤔

ChampagneCat was a homeless single mother living on the streets before she went to the rescue. Quite how she thinks her rampant fussiness is justified is beyond me, yet here we are spending more to feed her per month than DDogs 😆

Haha, yeah, mine was a single mum of 2 teens (older kittens!) when she was picked up. She can't hunt for toffee either, so with that and her fussiness I have no idea how she survived tbh.

This isn't a suitable diet for cats.

They must have sufficient amounts of taurine in their diets or it can make them incredibly unwell and can even kill them.

HadEnough2023 · 23/05/2023 22:20

Purina gourmet food & go cat biscuits. All 3 are doing well on it.

Was on felix but made them poorly. Angry
