Flea treatment question

Genuine question as I can't find any info regarding this, can I apply flea spot on treatment to the skin of the back of my cat's ear rather than the back of the neck?
He's a ragdoll so I find it almost impossible to get through the fur and it always seems to bleed into the fur anyway.
We're 6 months on treating fleas and still have them and I think it's because it's not getting through to the skin. Sad
I was thinking there's not much fur on his ears so might be easier to apply.
I thought about the pill version but that doesn't provide long lasting protection.
Help.

I think behind the ear would be too easy for him to ingest. I think the reason it goes on the back of the neck is that it's least likely for them to be able to reach it to clean.

It's not unusual for some of the treatment to be on the fur, just do what you can wiggling the nozzle through the fur to the skin before you start squeezing the tube.

Ah ok, I think I'm going to try taking some scissors in future then and just trim around the area before I apply it to try and minimise the amount lost in the fur.
Hopefully that works.

What flea treatment are you using? Good quality flea treatment should have worked in that time frame...

Majority of fleas are in the household environment, not on the pet.
Make sure you treat your house with a flea spray - vets can advise you which one to use

I'd recommend indorex to treat your house as well.

It needs to be behind the neck I am afraid. They can't lick this area, and cannot reach it with their paw, so would be unable to transfer it to their mouth.
