Is there anything I can do? Severe allergic reaction

I've just spent over an hour in the back of an ambulance because I'm allergic to my beautiful new kittens. I'm fine with our older cat.

They slept in our room for the first time last night and the room had had a proper deep spring clean just that day so it definitely wasn't my dust allergy.

I was gagging every 2-3 seconds and couldn't speak to 111 properly (I wanted out of hours for a quick strong prescription) felt like my throat was closing although i could actually breathe so it wasnt life threatening or anything. Anyway, they sent an ambulance. Cringing at the drama of it all. I felt a right twat.

I'm now sitting in the garden while the house airs and they're in a separate room. Until my dr appointment at 11.

Obviously they can never be in the bedroom again. Is there anything at all I can do to keep them? I'm heartbroken.

Are you sure its definitely the kittens?

If it’s anaphylaxis no they’ve got to go back to the breeder.

If it’s that severe I would say, probably not. I was always allergic to cats - very itchy eyes, made me wheeze. About 12 years ago, I went and lived in a house with a cat for a year and after avoiding direct contact for the first few months the cat started sitting on my lap in the evenings and although I got a bit itchy to start with, by the end of the year I was completely not allergic. It has worn off now, though and I get sneezy when I’ve stroked cats. Possibly you may be able to achieve a non-severe reaction, but if they’re still kittens it may be best to move them
on now.

Depends. I actually think I might be tempted to try antihistamines and give it a few days. I'm (mildly) allergic but I seem to become desensitised after a while. I'm only suggesting because you said you COULD actually breathe. If you couldn't then I wouldn't risk it at all
