Why does she do this?

Cheddar has taken to sitting outside my (open) bedroom door and scrapes at the wall doorframe. If she's in the garden she does this to get me to open the door. Has she suddenly discovered her manners and want's permission to come in?🤣

Awwww bless her. She’s so lovely. Obviously she’s doing it so you will post her pictures on MN and we will give her loads of compliments.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/05/2023 10:11

I wouldn't put it past her. Though I'm not sure there is enough going on between her ears to think that.

Is her food bowl empty or does she need some treats or attention?

One of mine does it for treats in the evening

Toddlerteaplease · 13/05/2023 10:23

She's not good oriented at all. She leaves the treat demanding to her sister, as she has the guilt tripping down to a fine art. (She then joins in).
She is never so polite as to ask for attention, She just comes and makes biscuits on my face. She has absolutely no concept of personal space.

What a cutie!!!

One of my girls has started knocking to be let in right next to the cat flap. I think referring to her as Queen B means she's too high and mighty to get her own door.

SoupDragon · 13/05/2023 10:27

She's a cat. She is doing it because a) she can and b) it messes with your head.

This, totally.

Maybe I should stick some paper up and put paint on her paws. I could make millions.

Anyone who has Persians, knows they are not real cats!

That second picture! Hoity toity floof! 😻

Toddlerteaplease · 13/05/2023 11:43

Her sister has demanded that I post pics of her too. So you can admire her cuteness.

We’ve had 2 cars that did this as a change of behaviour.

One ended up having a thyroid issue and the behaviour stopped once on medication.

When another cat started doing this, she’d had a check with the vet only a month before she started doing it, so I left it a while thinking something had just stressed her out. Unfortunately, when we took her a little while later, it turned out she had a brain tumour which explained the behaviour. 😔

I’d be taking her to the vet if I was you.

cats

Toddlerteaplease · 13/05/2023 13:58

@MovingStones she had bloods done not long ago, and they were fine. And she's otherwise completely her usual noisy, attention seeking cuddle chops self. Whose left a pile of pile puke on my clean sheets!

Is that one called Magic?

I can’t decide if she’s a pirate, or a toff in a monocle.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/05/2023 15:45

Yes. That is magic, she's both!

Our cat had also had a full vet check a month before she started doing it as I said and everything had come back as normal. That’s why I left it a bit longer to go to the vet to get her checked.

It’s up to you but based on our experience, I’d take her. Your cat has been sick too.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/05/2023 16:22

She's been doing it a while. And is a regular vomiter, so it's nothing new. I always thought it was because she was in the wardrobe but to dim to walk to the other end. Then saw her doing it the other day, and realised she wasn't in the wardrobe. I don't think it's a health issue, I just intrigued as to why she does it. (She dies it on the sides of the litter tray as well, as long as I've had her.)

She might be over generalising? “It’s a door, I scratch those.”

Toddlerteaplease · 13/05/2023 19:14

Probably knowing her. Fortunately, claws are not deployed ever!

Sorry to hear that. Our boy started pawing at the wall next to doors, amongst other things, and he also had a brain tumour. He was only 8 at the vets guess. He was a stray we found on our land and he had 6 lovely years with us. It’s hard to see the behaviour changes associated with illness.

Toddlerteaplease · 13/05/2023 22:41

You've got me worried now, but she's otherwise completely her normal self. I googled the symptoms and she has jibe of them.

She's gorgeous.

Oh, thank goodness it’s none!
