Behaviour after surgery

I've recently got two (very beautiful) Maine coon kittens, siblings.
They've settled in amazingly well & follow each other around all the time and snuggle to sleep.

The male had to have a little op today to sort an umbilical hernia, and since coming home in his little red bodysuit his sister won't go near him, she's hissing at him anytime he's near. She won't come down to eat and hissed at me when I went close, I'm normally her favourite person.

I'm hoping this will pass asap but he has to wear his bodysuit for 10days and I'm worried if it's because he's wearing that it'll really effect their bond?

Any tips would be amazing!

To her he will smell completely different and look different - she's confused and scared of this strange smelling interloper.

If they have a blanket, rub it all over him.

When my two were spayed they loathed each other for days. They were in pain, smelt different etc. in time they got over it and went back to normal. Don’t worry.

He’s very jaunty in his red outfit!

I haven’t had any direct experience of this, but I understand it’s quite common. There’s another thread on the Litter Tray where a poster mentions that she had a mother cat reject her kitten for several weeks after the kitten went to the vets. I’m assuming that after the 2 weeks things went back to normal!
