Weird cat logic

Toots has coexisted tolerated my dc all these years. She’s younger than my kids so has essentially grown up with them but still bared the burden of having these two extra weird people.

Usually, the most she ever interacted with them was either sleeping on their beds, meowing at dd for food (it’s her job to feed her), or occasionally taking pets.

However, it was my dd’s birthday last week. She turned 10. Suddenly, she was now accepted by Toots. On that day, she started laying on DD’s lap and has never stopped. It’s like a switch has flicked in her head and gone “now she’s an acceptable age to want”

How weird is that

I remember our childhood cat doing the same. She avoided us, but then suddenly decided we were ok.

Soubriquet · 02/04/2023 21:37

It’s so bizarre. Like, why was not ok on the day before her birthday, but now is.

Oh well. Dd loves it. Even though she’s allergic to the cat Grin

She suffers because she loves her.

DD has hit double figures and is now an acceptable human - who says cats can’t count? 😄

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 03/04/2023 07:36

She has been deemed old enough to go into slavery.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/04/2023 10:20

Cats can definitely count!

Pixiedust1234 · 03/04/2023 10:49

At the grand old age of ten your DD has entered pre adulthood where you start showing empathy and putting others needs before your own. She is no longer a selfish child who is me me me. In other words she's turning into the perfect cat slave 😂

It sounds like DD is loving it and quite honestly, I think its the best birthday present any cat can give ❤

Soubriquet · 03/04/2023 12:14

Oh she’s loving it indeed. Keeps going “look mum. I’ve stolen your cat” cheeky mare

Is it possible that, at 10, she suddenly smells different from the cat's pov?

Soubriquet · 03/04/2023 17:01

Well that’s what I wondered but what exactly was she smelling that was different the day before her birthday, and her actual birthday.

It’s not like there’s some hormone that’s released on our birthday aging us up. So weird
