Cat pissing next to litter tray

Hi - looking for advice here.
Had a new baby (2nd child - first one is 3.5 years old) 4 months ago and since then my cat has started occasionally weeing next to the litter tray. Have taken her to vet for a check up as she's also been miowing more, getting underfoot etc and vet says it's most likely stress and to buy the plug in feliway thing/give her some calming capsules. Is there anyone else who has experienced this? The litter tray is clean when she does this, so it's MEGA annoying, smelly and just a general nuisance. Am trying to give her more attention as this is what vet says she needs, but it's challenging with 2 children. I feel for her as she's no longer sleeping in our room due to co sleeping so she prob feels abandoned, but what else can I do? Could it be the smell of the bleach spray I use to clean the area is putting her off using her tray? Thanks in advance MNers!

Same situation with one of my cats (have several) and we've tried new litter trays, different types, one exclusively for her and nothing has helped! Also poos on the floor was never an issue until my daughter was born and she is now 16 months 🤣 I also thought maybe the scent of the spray I used might be the problem but changed it several times to no avail wish I could be more helpful but I've just learnt to live with it! Lucky my litter trays are in a room not accessible to my daughter

Don't use bleach - it's the worst thing to use around animals.

You need a pet urine spray like Simple Solution.

Definitely don't use bleach! Use an enzyme cleaner to clean, and put puppy pads around the tray. A second tray in a different (quieter/less disturbed) area might help too.

Ah some great suggestions here, thanks MN! Got the puppy pads and enzyme spray today so wish me luck 😑

How old is your cat? Mine had trouble later years so I got plenty of puppy pads and a triangle shaped litter tray that was low at the front and high at the back which really helped

although she did still used to do a protest pee outside the tray occasionally when she disapproved of me for some random unknown reason so it might be your punishment for having a new baby

It might also be worth trying Cystease capsules if she's stressed - you can get them fairly cheaply on Amazon!
