Cats in the cradle...

Literally.

Baby isn't here yet, but due imminently. Have several other children but never had dcat when they were babies. Dcat is 2.

I've had the Moses basket set up in my bedroom for several weeks, and every time I turn around dcat is in there... this is just the times I catch her. Basket now full of cat hair so I imagine she's been in there quite a bit when I'm not around!

Trying to discourage, take her out etc. any other tips of how to manage this? Just worried she will keep doing it when baby is here, and try and use the basket when baby isn't in there, leaving me with a basket I can't put baby in that will need constant changing/washing.

Maybe a net to cover?

Dcat does have her own bed to sleep in too.

From DCat’s point of view, you have set up a lovely nest just for her! I think it was a mistake to do that before the baby arrived, as it isn’t obviously for “someone else” at present.
Can you shut DCat out of the room where the basket is? And you will need to be ultra vigilant once baby is in the basket, which DCat now regards as her territory - she may take exception to it and to the baby usurping “her” space.

I think you are right, it was a mistake.

I was just trying to be organised as I'm on my own and with medical issues- I'm not sure how well I will be after the birth and was trying to have as much ready as possible.

I have Moses basket in my room and dcat generally sleeps with me in bed (expect for the times I'm now waking up and catching her in the basket!)

I will move to the nursery and shut the door, not sure why I didn't think of that.

And yes I'm now concerned of what will happen when baby is here and feel like I will be watching like a hawk. I may have to sadly shut my bedroom door of a night and keep dcat out which I feel terrible about...

I doubt she'll come anyway near it when there is a baby in it!
