cat food for cat that is always being sick?

Any suggestions? He is happy, healthy, tubby, no medical concerns at all, passes all his check ups, fully vaccinated, house cat.

But he is sick a lot, multiple times a week, the vet says just a sensitive stomach.

I must say it bothers us a lot more than it bothers him! But if there is some magical cat food brand that you have found prevents this, please say!

Thank you

Have you had him checked specifically for hyperthyroidism, blood glucose levels, blood pressure, kidneys, etc.? Has the vet run blood tests or just given a general overall "feel", checked heart rate, etc?

Our (formerly tubby) male cat was always sick at least a few times a week, and the vet said he was fine. He was eventually diagnosed with diabetes by a different vet, when we requested a full blood test. He was also diagnosed with kidney disease (common in diabetic cats) and hyperthyroidism (which can cause vomiting). Also, high blood pressure. Thankfully, now all being medicated and controlled - and the vomiting is rarely an issue (whereas before, it was nearly daily).

I'm not saying this to worry you, we just wish we'd caught it all earlier instead of thinking "oh he's just a cat that vomits".

Basically, with our cat, he would eat too much, too fast, because of underlying health issues causing him to feel hungry all the time. So we addressed it with slow feeders, timed feeders, etc., but didn't realise other things were happening.

Also not to be gross - but is the vomit basically full of food (indicates sensitivity or simply eating too fast)? Or is it more liquid-like and clear (indicates hunger)?

What kind of food do you feed him? Kibble, wet, or raw?

How old is he? And how much does he weigh? :)

If he's tubby, are you sure that he's not just overeating? Mine would have eaten til she vomited, given the chance.

Our male cat was often sick after eating, vet said there was nothing wrong. We bought the tilted bowls wide enough for his whiskers to not touch and since then he's been fine. The angle of most cat bowls doesn't allow a natural neck position and can make it difficult to digest.

My old cat couldn't tolerate wet food at all, so I fed him Applaws chicken kibble. It's good stuff and he was never once sick on it. It's not at all uncommon for cats to be this way.

thank you for your suggestions. He has had all the health checks, it isn't diabetes, thankfully. He is currently eating Royal Canin hypoallergenic - which worked for at least a year, but isn't working now. We do lots of things to make him eat slowly - but not tilted bowls, I will try that. Ill try the Applaws chicken kibble too. Thank you again

Raw food is a great option for a cat with a sensitive stomach. My girl loves PurrForm

What health checks has he had? Has he had a blood test? As dustofneptune says hypothyroidism can cause vomiting.
My cat would vomit a few times a week, we thought she was just greedy (rescue cat so eats and eats whenever/wherever she can) but since blood test discovered she has hyperthyroidism. She's been on meds for 3 weeks now and has been sick just once.

The only thing that works for our vomity cat is Katkin.

I have the same with my older cat. She has alway just had dry food and we switched to purina sensitive. This sorted her out and on the odd occasion where we can’t find it and give her the normal purina she starts vomiting again.

thank you - more ideas to try. I appreciate it

Are there furballs? One of mine would keep throwing up for a few days until there was a furball.
Constipation can also cause vomiting. Did the vet check intestines to see if there was a back up? Check for mega colon.

Our sicky girl will only eat Harringtons. It's grain-free, which can apparently help sensitive stomached cats. She's only been sick once since she went onto it, and it used to be a couple of times a week.

My very sicky girl is much better on Iams vitality. Indoor it light in fat. The senior gave her colitis. 😰. She also can't have dreemies or other 'biscuit' snacks. Who's is a shame as she hates meaty sticks. A raised food bowl also helped massively.
