Boiled chicken format with upset tummy.

After a trip to the vet we've been advised to give one of our cats boiled chicken for a few days to help settle his tummy.
Do I just boil and shred the chicken, or do I add a little water when I serve it?
Any advice would be great. Thanks

I normally cook a chicken for dinner then boil the carcas and pull off/shred all the scrappy bits, also often shred the legs as not keen on the them. I also put the cooled boiled water in a bowl for then to drink. Do not add any stock cubes or salt. Make sure you remove all the bones.

Your other cats can also eat it.

When I've done this for cats I've just boiled it and drained it.

Only when doing it for the dog with rice have I used the water to moisten it more. I don't see why you couldn't though if it looks a little dry.

I wondered about this as well. Though I have no doubt neither of mine would eat it!

Thank you. I'm currently boiling it now and have put in enough for the other cats to share too. With the price of cat food at the moment this might be the cheaper/better option for all of them!

Just realised the title was supposed to say 'for cat', not 'format'!

Mine have always looked at it and decided that as it doesn't look or smell like their usual food, they won't eat it. Ungrateful sods.

It cant be their sole diet but boil and dice if their tummies are upset.

Darthwazette · 24/01/2023 17:49

When mine was poorly I cooked chicken in boiling water, shredded it and spooned a little of the chickeny water on top.

he went from barely eating to devouring a whole chicken breast, little sod.

Suspect mine would refuse chicken. But not turn their noses up at steak.

Thank you for all the replies. Two cats love it (including the poorly one) & I was even able to hide worming tables in it. However, one looked at it as if I was serving up what the poorly cat is depositing!
