Our cat has CKD, hyperthyroidism, high blood pressure, and had diabetes (now in remission). So I sympathise!
Ours can't go on a renal diet, as it's too high in carbs and would trigger a return of diabetes. He also won't touch it anyway - we tried it once. So instead, we feed him specific flavours of Feringa (chicken, lamb and rabbit) that have the lowest phosphorous content - as phosphorus is an important factor in kidney disease. He loves this and eats it all, which has meant that he has been able to gain weight. His kidney readings actually improved after putting him on this food, which the vet was baffled by. Since then (about a year now), he's remained stable with nothing else needing to be done.
We are also looking into phosphorous binders (allows you to feed regular cat food instead of renal diet).
There are forums online about CKD that go into detail, if you Google "feline CKD and phosphorous".
For the hyperthyroidism - our cat gets a daily pill that we hide in a piece of chicken. It's worked brilliantly - his appetite is now regulated and he's gained weight, so is now just under 5kg (healthy for his size, he's a big/long cat).
Another thing that has really helped is a 5-section Cat Mate timed feeder. We give him his biggest portion of food at our bed time, which keeps him quiet until 6am. Previously, he'd yowl at midnight, 2am, 4am, etc. Then the rest is timed throughout the day. It could help :)
What kind of food is your kitty on?
