So usually buy Pets at Home cat litter , 30l for £7.99 . Haven't got it since about November because usually order to collect and get 3 at a time. Went into my local one and it's £11.49 ! What an increase.

We stocked up a few weeks ago and it was more expensive then. Thanks for the warning about the bigger price rise.

I know everyone probably has their preferences but I honestly don't think you can beat the Lidl cat litter. Huge bag for around £2 (similarly has gone up recently and can't remember the price but it's gone from £1.79 to £2 something) 2 cats and a bag lasts us 2 months nearly.

Not wood but it's super clumping and it hides smells really well.

Just a recommendation incase you want to try out any cheaper ones

No Lidl near us at present. The Pets at Home stuff has almost doubled in price over the last 12 months.

I used to use the wood pellets all the time but switched to paper based. Still risen around £12 for 30l though.

Yep, but at least it's now in stock. It was almost impossible to get hold of for months.

I pay around £5.30 for 10 litre bag from Waitrose or Sainsburys. Then noticed that my dad uses a similar style of bedding for his horse - wood pellets that turn into sawdust once moisture hits. he pays £8 for a big sack so guess where I'm getting the next bag of cat litter stuff from Grin

What do you do with your wood sawdust please?

I've recently switched to wood pellets and am using a sifting tray so that the sawdust falls through to the lower tray. Obviously I'm picking the solid waste out as required.
Since it's nothing but pee soaked wood, I'd really prefer not to send it to landfill.
I have a hidden corner of garden where it could sit in a enclosed porous bag for a few months, could I layer it with grass of leaves?
I assume I just cant spread as mulch as my garden will reek!

Mine goes in my kitchen bin when I empty the bin, about every 3 days. Then into my Grey bin. Why are you not happy about it going to landfill? It’s organic and the urea in the cat pee is good for breaking down organic matter quicker. Putting it in your garden soil is identical in all but location.

CatCatting · 11/06/2023 13:23

Should I use a compostable bag and put it in general waste?
Or a compostable bag and put it garden waste bin?

Oh now I'm not a fan of the Lidl one. I tried it as (along with several others!) as the Sanicat Oxygen I used to get at B&M seems to have been discontinued :( The Lidl one didn't seem to clump very well and just ended up a clay like mess for me.

Thinking I will have to try wood pellets or another non clumping type as all the clumping ones seem awful at the minute!
