At what age do kittens start to calm down

DS is 16 and we’ve had cats all his life. Our oldest cat died last year and we decided to get a pair of kittens which everyone in the family wanted. They’re approximately 3 months old and are gorgeous but absolutely full on and DS is finding them very hard work (he has SEN).

At what age would you expect them to calm down - even slightly? They’re both boys so does having them neutered eventually make any difference?

They are gorgeous. Our boy is 6 years and he still has his wild moments.

If they are going to be outdoor cats, once they can go out and run off some energy. You can neuter as soon as they are large enough, normally around four months.

It kind of depends on the cat. I have a seven year old and would say he was five when he finally settled down but he’s still the sort of cat that gets up as soon as you come home and watches as you get ready to leave. He has a little friend who is about two and she is a lot more active.

Neutering helps.

I've found they calm down around a year or so, but some are more chilled than others. Our two year old boy is way calmer than the six year old girl. The seven year old boy is just a lazy lump unless he's shouting at me for food Grin
