Cats fighting, how to help them settle?

I had 1 cat, she's 8. We have a visiting cat (he's old and comes in for a sleep rather than food). She tolerates him, but then he generally ignores her, never hisses at her or anything like that. So now they get on OK, she's not bothered by him and he's not here all the time.

Cat 3 turned up as a starving kitten. I posted about her. So she's here now, no owners have claimed her and of course DC love her, she's super friendly and playful. Not yet spayed so can't go out.she and my cat have started arguing and it seems to be worse on the 2 occasions that new cat has been (I think) in season.

I've just woken up to them shouting at each other on the landing. Dcat spends a lot of time upstairs and dkitten stays down but has obviously ventured up.

When I go out, I leave dkiten in the front room/Hall with litter tray food etc. Dcat has the rest of the house and goes out through the cat flap. I feel for dkitten being shut in, but it's the only place I can shut her in that let's dcat use upstairs and the cat flap.

Is there anything I can do to help them settle? Dcat would hiss at visiting cat but he always just ignored her so she gave up. But dkitten is both having a go back, and also 'starting' it.

I hope when she can go out things will settle down a bit. I just feel for dcat that her life has been upset by this new intruder.
