Getting a kitten..

Me and my DH are looking at taking the next step. ( a kitten)
We have been looking online but am a bit uncertain. We keep finding booths random lists and ads.
If we were to buy a kitten we know the things we'd need for it... but when it comes to vaccinations, microchipping, neutering .. clueless!!!!!
Where do we find this information ?
We've been in contact with aomeobody selling a 10 week old kitten but how do we know what we'd do next in terms of veterinary stuff? Thanks!

Mine was £90 from the RSPCA & he was health checked, vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, deflead, dewormed & came with 4 weeks free insurance. Would have cost me more than the adoption fee to have all that done myself.

The icatcare website is a good source of information icatcare.org/advice/thinking-of-getting-a-cat/

Buying from private homes can be a bit hit and miss - there are some genuine accidental litters but responsible owners usually have their cats neutered. There are people who breed their pets to make money - without really caring about the health of mum and kittens - and I'd rather not support that so prefer going via a rescue. I fostered a mum & kittens in the past, she'd had half a dozen litters as her previous owners didn't bother getting her spayed, and they then dumped her while heavily pregnant due to it no longer being convenient for them. I'm sure they told the people they sold her previous kittens to that it was an accidental litter each time...

Goodness please go to the cats protection league or a rescue place. You'll get a kitten that's already been chipped, neutered, jabs, flea treatment etc. The rest you can speak to a good vets, you can pay monthly and get everything they need, they'll remind you too what you need and when.
Good luck! Cats and kittens are great -
Two are better 🥰

I've not had much luck with rescue places for getting cats or dogs. They have (in my opinion) over strict rules and they act like they're doing you a massive favour. I'm generalising obviously, but this is my experience in a lifetime of pet owning.

We got our kitten from someone who rescued a pregnant cat from a bad home. We absolutely adore him and we had no idea how much things cost. I just phoned my local vet and asked how much it was. We paid less then £50 for his 1st vaccines and chip, then his second lot was about £30. He gets a vaccine every year which is around £30. We get his flea and worming from the vet it's about £50 for 4 months worth. We paid £55 to get him neutered. We was allowed to get him done at 4 months because of his weight. Definitely check out where you are getting your kitten from. Some people just breed them to make money and come full of fleas and problems. But they are definitely worth it xx
