We went to a rescue centre yesterday to see three kitten we have been interested in for the past few weeks.
these babies were brought in by their mum two months ago, mum was under a year old didn’t know how to be a mum and didn’t have enough milk, all were anaemic and full of fleas and unfortunately one of them passed away on the first night.
The rescue have done an amazing job hand rearing them, they were so lovely, looked healthy (although mums growth is stunted) and they are lively and look bright and bouncy. They are now 12 weeks and almost ready for homing after their next vaccination. We have picked out a lovely girl to have a home trial, as we have another cat who is much older (male).
However, they have been treated for Guiardia, which has been my main concern. They are not showing any signs of illness now after treatment and the rescue want to administer another treatment to be on the safe side before they are released for homing. But I have had my reservations about this incase our kitten still has the parasite. The last thing I want to do is bring a nasty illness like that home.
What are the risks here, is it effectively eradicated with treatment? I have no experience in cats with this, and I’ve had cats all my life.
thank you!
