Food - Tinned vs sachets

We have recently rehomed a year old cat and I was looking to buy tinned cat food rather than sachets (to increase the recyling by using tins).

However Dcat has other ideas..He will happily eat Whiskas sachets but won't eat the exact same food if it's in a tin. I assume there must be a difference.Anyone know if that's the case? He also doesn't seem to like fish flavours, which from previous cats seems strange.

Any recommendations for tinned food..tried Co-Op and Whiskas but no joy.

My cat won’t eat tinned at all but will happily eat pouches. It’s quite bizarre.

The pouches are now recyclable via soft plastic collection schemes. Co op and Tesco both has (clean) pet food pouches listed in their soft recycling schemes.

Pets at home also collect

Will they eat fresh tinned food and then refuse the second portion?

We tend to use Feringa, Smilla and animonda carny in the 800g tins. Our cat won’t eat the second portion if its been stored in an open tin, so we transfer it to a tupperwear which solves the issue.

My cat is the same ,he only eats a small amount of meat ( half 80g pouch will generally last him a day ) as he prefers dry food. So tins are pointless , it epuld go off before he ate it.
He won't eat meat out of the foil trays either but perhaps yours would ?

The food in tins isn't the same as the food in sachets. The texture and ratios are all very different.

Pets at home have recycling for pet food packaging.

I'd prefer to feed tins but have ended up with fancy sachets to try to stop my cat stealing next doors Whiskas.

If you want tins then I used to get little tins from Zooplus so it was a tin a day per cat - they don't like cold food straight out of the fridge.

They liked Feringa and Animonda Carny.

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. I didn't know about the recycling so I will feel happier if I can recycle. I'll look out for it in Pets at Home.

dcat won't eat anything from a tin, even if it's freshly opened. The texture seems a little drier so perhaps it's that.

They can turn fussy, I remember a previous cat stopped eating usual food so I spent a fortune on tests to discover she was very well but her palate had changed!

Gourmet gold melting hearts are nice and soft and wet.
Gourmet gold tins are about the only thing my cats will eat

Just popped in to say I also have three cats who dislike fish. Will happily steal the tuna mayo that my daughter drops, but mainly for the mayo. However they'll kill for some brocoli...
Made a cod dish the other night with zero interest from the floofy ones!
