I have a 3 year old sphynx that I've had for four months.

She is peeing everywhere and I don't know why?! She has two clean litter trays, my house absolutely stinks or urine in every room and I can't even find the source of the smell most of the time.

I can't have people over because the intense smell of cat urine hits you as soon as you enter the house.

She doesn't have a UTI.

PLEASE help, because I love her but I can't live like this.

I'd bring her into the vet to see what's going on. Could be stress or anxiety or could be joint problems making it hard for her to get into the tray. You can try a feliway diffuser if stress is the cause. Are you home with her a lot during the day, they need more company than people sometimes realise especially if they're an indoor cat. Maybe having set playtime with her morning and evening as well as cuddles?

I got my cat as a rescue and he was a wee dote in the shelter and then had a personality transplant when he came home. He did not cope well with the move and he peed all over the house for a few months. It took about 6 months in all honesty for him to fully settle in. And if I left him alone too long he would have peed in protest outside of his tray. He's fully settled now and rarely has any accidents but it was really hard going at the time. I'm guessing you don't know what background she's come from- could have been a hoarding situation where she was allowed or expected to pee wherever. Every time he had an accident if I caught him in the act I'd have brought him up to his tray and put him in it. And rewarded when he peed in his tray with a treat.

On a side note are you using scented litter as some cats hate it?

Is she neutered? If not, she needs to be ASAP.

She may not have a UTI but she could be stressed and that often causes inappropriate urination.

I would take her to the vets for a full health check and then, assuming she's okay, I would see what I could do about making her environment safer for her.

So, does she have plenty of hiding spaces? Is the house "catified" at all? Does she have things like cat trees and scratching posts? Is this a new thing or has she done it since you got her?

There's probably a reason you got her at that age. Where did you get her from?

Is it a covered litter tray with a lid like an igloo? Some cats refuse to entertain going in there, and prefer an open tray. Others like the opposite. You could try using different types of litter. Also, Feliway plug-ins all over the house should help.

When I got one of my cats at 10 months he would wee around the house. For him it was mostly stress and confusion.

I read around online and I ended up "reintroducing" him to the house. So he started with access to one room only. He had his litterbox, and the room was very tidy with nothing left out that he would be tempted to pee on. Basically you make it impossible for them to fail. He spent a week or so in there, and then was granted access to one new room. He got to acclimatise to that room, and if good habits continued, he would eventually get another room. (Obviously this would be difficult to do if you live in an open plan house!)

This went really well. He did have to go back a room once or twice, but he did eventually get full run off the house and with an installed habit of using the litterboxes.

Other things you can think about to help them succeed is where are the litterboxes? My cats are definitely partial to certain litterbox locations. If your cat keeps peeing in a particular location, put a litterbox there. Are they covered or open? Do you have enough boxes? Are you keeping them clean? Is your house tidy (don't leave blankets/ coats etc on the floor as temptations!) Are you cleaning any soiled areas or items with the cleaners that break down enzymes?
