Giving your cat toothpaste...

There is no way in hell my nervou cats will tolerate having her teeth brushed. She really does need toothpaste as she suffers with tartar.

I have squirted cat toothpaste on a crunchy cat treat (dreamie style) and she ate them it up.

Is this ok?

I thought it would be better than her just licking it off my finger as my thinking is that the chewing will cause it to coat her teeth somewhat.

I got flogged a cat toothbrush and paste by the vet for my cat's gingivitis, never got near her with it! I got this for her which you add to their food, might be worth a try?

With regards the toothpaste, isn't it the actual brushing action that removes the tartar / plaque? I'm not sure that toothpaste on its own will achieve anything. I'm also pretty certain that it isn't meant to be digested.

I had some toothpaste for Cheddar. It had a special applicator on. She was pretty good with that. The problem was that it was vanilla flavour. (I mean why???) and she hated it. If it had been meat flavoured o don't think it would have been an issue.

I brush my cats teeth with logic toothpaste (for cats) dint mind at all but I've been doing it since they were kittens. Trouble is, you won't fully protect against tartar, cats mouths are a tad grotty.
