Bones for cats?

I have a lovely 3yo Burmese who is full of character and so affectionate but, dare I say it, can be very annoying! Mainly because of the constant loud shouting (which I know is part of the breed, but seems excessive even so) and also his tendancy towards chewing things he shouldn't like wires and rubber things.

The other day we had a roast chicken and I put the carcass out for the cats. Eating the bones kept him quiet for ages (during and after) and also seemed to fulfill his need to chew. It got me wondering if there is such a thing as bones for cats? Has anyone given theirs bones like you would a dog? If so, what works best and isn't outrageously expensive?

Please don't put chicken carcasses out for cats etc, cooked poultry bones can be very dangerous for both cats and dogs, as they can splinter and pierce the intestine walls. Raw poultry bones are OK.

I just use bones that are from my own food, e.g. lamb shank or lamb neck chops. Get my meat off them, and pass them on to Girlcat when I'm sure they are cool enough

You should never give cooked bones to cats or dogs. Raw bones would be ok although I would worry about contamination of surfaces by raw meat juices

Ah ok I did not know that, thanks for letting me know!

You can get catnip sticks for them to chew on, maybe try one of them.
I wouldn't give any animal a chicken carcass, the bones can choke them.

Never, ever give cats or dogs chicken bones.

Raw chicken necks or wings are great for dental hygiene and for them to chew on.

They should be supervised however.

There are some natural dog treats that are cat safe - they can have sprats or fish skins, for example, or raw chicken wings (under supervision).

Definitely don't give cooked bones.

There are some risks with raw chicken, so you need to balance that, but my last cat used to love a raw chicken wing or thigh once he got too old to hunt rats.
