Wondering if this might be a problem

Hi all

My boy cat has been over looking petting a few minutes ago and he rolled over to his back for belly rubs. He is a real softy.

As he did this, I noticed that his fur seems to thin out across his lower belly. I'm wondering if he is having hair thinning there but I can't honestly say if there was much fur before. He is very thick fur otherwise.

I took a photo of between his legs under belly. I had a look at my girl cat and she has a good coverage of fur there just like the rest of her so that doesn't help me.

He is in absolutely no distress but my mind is wondering is there something going on. I should probably add that my anxiety levels are through the roof for other reasons and it could be coming out as thinking that something is wrong with my cat but I decided to ask on here before I make him a vets appointment over the next few days as he probably doesn't need a vets appointment.

Please reassure me that his under carriage is normal levels of fur.

Photo of the rest of him added as cat tax.

Thanks in advance

Looks fine to me OP. Just checked mine. I have 2 long haired who are very hairy but my elder short hair looks like yours does.
Anxiety can make you over think OP (I know from experience)
Ps what a beautiful kitty x

It's normal - like people, some cats are furrier than others!

Thank you both that's reassuring, my brain was going off at all the possible things that could be wrong but now I can reassure it that the cat is fine.

My stupid brain has been playing all sorts of havoc with me and while I would do anything for my cats I don't want to subject him to the vets unless needed as he hates the trip.

Just waiting for psych appointment for adjusting meds which is next week. One hour at a time.

All the best to you OP - I hope things get better for you soon x

My cat has a tendency to overgroom so I've spent a lot of time looking at other cats' underbellies for comparison purposes. Quite a few cats seem to have thinner fur in that area - partly by nature and partly I think because they lick it more than other areas to keep it clean. I don't think you need to worry about your cat, he is quite normal in that respect Smile
